Hi people. How is it going? Let’s be imaginative this week. Let’s dream, aspire and kill it by living the ambition. This week, I bring to you a funny movie which will set you in motion. The secret life of Walter Mitty.
The movie was released in 2013 and Ben Stiller was the actor, director and producer of the film. Stiller as we know kills it with his comic timing, expressions and spontaneous dialogue delivery. He gives you all the very good reasons for you to watch the movie.
Getting in to the story, it revolves, obvious from the name, around the life of Walter Mitty who is an asset manager at Life Magazine. For one of their publications, they decide to print Sean O’Connell’s (famous photo journalist) best work as the cover for the magazine and pin down on #25 of all the pictures he suggests. Now here is the twist. Mitty receives all the pictures expect #25. Assuming that O’Connell has put him into a treasure hunt, he tries to decipher hints from the other pictures leading him to O’Connell himself. Mitty believes that the journalist must be met somehow, because he has the final photograph and his job depended on that.
The journey of Mitty, his imaginations of himself being super adventurous in his dreams and failing to apply the same in reality, his quest of solving the clues and discovering life on the way is the essence of the film. The movie reminded me that there is a Walter Mitty in each one of us, who fantasizes life with full of energy and amazing things to look forward to, while in reality is just a lazy melancholic working machine with no zest. The film towards the end pushes you to take that one extra step towards your dreams and tells you that it is indeed not so difficult to do it.
I firmly encourage you to watch the film. Above all the inspiration, there is comedy throughout. It cannot be a Ben Stiller movie if it is not comic. So yeah, that’s the thing.
